GFS Buyer Beware

GFS - or "Who Screwed Who"

I have waited 6 months to let things cool down.
It did not help.
I am still pissed at GFS!

Why I will never buy another pickup from GFS.

Pickup: Crunchy Rails
Advertised In BOLD!   "A Blazing Hot 16.2K" Liars!

Yet when measured the pickup it was 15K even no decimal points.
When I email GFS about this fact, I was "Told" that there will be "Variances" between pickups.
OK!

Then why did you resort to "False Advertising" claiming the this pickup is exactly "16.2K"?
And when I asked for my money back, I was told that my shipping would not be refunded.
Again OK!

First you charged me $15.00 S&H.
If I send the pickup back, I am still out $15.00
I am unhappy, Pissed in fact, and GFS is still up $15.00
I know is only cost $2 to mail a pickup.

16.2K = I Got Screwed
False Advertising = I Got Screwed!
$15.00 Shipping & Handling = I Got Screwed!
Basically the person at GFS just told me to go "F" myself!
AGAIN!
I Got Screwed!

Both Demarzio & Seymour Duncan can be very grateful:
Because of GFS has made me realize that when they advertise a pickup at 16K it will actually be 16K.
Just about every vendor selling pickups now offers "FREE SHIPPING"
Also most of the sellers on eBay now offer free shipping.

So GFS! What's up with that ???
Affordable Pickups my Ass!

$40.00 Pickup + $20.00 Shipping = $60.00
DiMarzio Humbucker, any humbucker, Pick one.
$64 No Tax with FREE Shipping!

The price difference between major brand resellers with free shipping and the price of GFS pickups "WITH" shipping is only a
few dollars apart. The price difference "for me" is not all that great. So from now on I will just pay the difference for a
reputable brand pickup.

Also, Just for the sake of being Pissy!
I am pulling out the 12 GFS pickups in my guitars and replacing most of them with DiMarzio's.

NO MIDI IN Port !!! WTF!!!

Hello To All Of The "Arrogant" MIDI Foot Controller Manufacturers!

First, Thanks But, No Thanks,!
MIDI Pedals/Controllers that do not have a "MIDI In Port"
WTF!

I "Immediately" put these devices on my:
"Do Not Buy List"
"Do Not Even Bother Downloading The Manual"
"These Are A Waste Of Time"

Are you that Arrogant?
That you can make a pedal and the tell me to "F-Off"
That you "Demand" to be the first pedal in the MIDI Chain!
Because that is what you are "Forcing" me to do!

Well!
F-Off to you too!

#1...
A "MIDI In" Port would be indispensable in "Incorporating" your equipment into my MIDI setup.
The MIDI Setup I Already Have!
A MIDI In Port would be nice, real nice.

#2...
A MIDI Foot controller that can be controlled by "External" MIDI commands would be even better.

First, Let Me Say:
I have NO! Affiliation with any company, anywhere.
I have nothing to lose or gain from any of them.
That being said!

My 1st. example is the RJM Mastermind
It Has A MIDI Out Port! (Kinda need one of those)
Will Send 4 PC's & 8 CC's
It Has A MIDI In Port !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It Has 125 Presets!
It Responds to MIDI Program Change Commands !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Joy!
I am seriously considering this as my next purchase.

At present I own Many, Many, Many MIDI controllers.
Both Foot Controllers and Desktop Controllers.

I Own: (Among Many)
ADA:   MC-1
Funky 70's Tech but still in use

Rolls:   MIDI Wizard
8 Expression Pedal Inputs, NOT as useful as you would imagine
Programing any one of the 8 expression pedals is not too, too difficult
"Pedal One" programmed as "CC19", will Always Be "CC19"
This "Feature" Annoys the Hell Out Me!

Yamaha: MFC10
    Preset 00 - Preset 49
BUT! the MFC10 cannot go to 00, Go Figure
Yamaha Claims the MFC10 has 50 Presets, 00 trough 49.
But if the MFC10 will not go to 00, that is just 49 presets.
Somebody at Yamaha Is either a Liar or they are "Asleep at the wheel (Clueless)".
Programming the MFC10 is not difficult, just tedious and time consuming.

Peavey: PC1600X (16 Sliders, 16 Buttons, 50 Presets, (2) 1/4'' jacks for Pedals/Buttons)
    DAMN
This "Bad Boy" may have been thought up an made in the 70's.
But nothing today even comes close to it in flexibility.
Each preset, all of the Sliders, Buttons and Jacks can be programmed, to be something different!
$25 will get you a third party software program.
That makes it a breeze to"Program" the PC1600X.

MOOG: MP-201
    4 Channel, Foot Expression Controller
    AGAIN!
Not As Useful As You Would Think!
    GREAT CONCEPT
    PISS POOR EXECUTION OF FIRMWARE/SOFTWARE
The Manual States, Among Many Boo-Boos
That you can set the upper and lower limit of the MIDI CC Value being sent.
    Well Guess What?
That Sure as hell "DOES NOT" work.
    The tone Controls on the GNX4 have a sweep value of (-12 / 0 / +12)
I tried to set up one channel of the MP-201 as the "Bass" control on my GNX4.
To "Start" at 50% to "Stop" at 100%" (0 to +12)
When I change to that preset the bass starts out at 50%
but when I sweep the pedal up and down to control the Bass.
The Bass on the GNX4 goes all of the way down to "-12"
The PC1600X does this perfectly, so I know it is NOT the GNX4.
I guess the real "Tell" is that MOOG does not make these anymore
it was only a One Year run on producing the MP-201's.
What this tells you, is anybodies guess.
    Did not sell too well?
    I don't know
The MP-201 would have been the "Killer App' in the MIDI world.
If MOOG had made it long enough to work ot the bugs in the Firmware.
    To Bad

When I first read about the MP-201 I was excited!
    Great!
A MIDI controller that will actually does something other than PC's
    MOOG Got Lazy ??????
    Cheaped Out?
Was I the only person that bought one?
